अभि त्वा शूर नोनुमोऽदुग्धा इव धेनवः । ईशानमस्य जगतः स्वर्दृशमीशानमिन्द्र तस्थुषः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! आप इस जग के व जड़चेतन के स्वामी हैं. आप सब कुछ देख सकते हैं. जैसे थनों में दूध लिए गाएं बछड़ों के पास जाने के लिए उतावली रहती हैं, वैसे ही हम उतावले हो कर आप को प्रणाम करते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You are the master of this world and the root consciousness. You can see everything. Just as cows with milk in the udders are eager to go to the calves, we bow down to you in a hurry. (1)
त्वामिद्धि हवामहे सातौ वाजस्य कार्वः । त्वां वृत्रेष्विन्द्र सत्पतिं नरस्त्वां काष्ठास्वर्वतः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! स्तुति करने वाले यजमान हवि दान के लिए आप को आमंत्रित करते हैं. आप सत्य (या सज्जनो) के पालनहार हैं. हम तथा दूसरे सभी शत्रु या घोड़ों से संबंधित युद्धों में मदद के लिए आप को ही पुकारते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra! The praising host invites you to donate. You are the sustainer of truth (or gentlemen). We and all others call on you to help in enemies or horse-related wars. (2)
अभि प्र वः सुराधसमिन्द्रमर्च यथा विदे । यो जरितृभ्यो मघवा पुरूवसुः सहस्रेणेव शिक्षति ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! इंद्र पशु आदि बहुत प्रकार के धन वाले हैं. वे अपनी स्तुति करने वाले को बहुविध धन देते हैं. आप श्रेष्ठ धन देने वाले इंद्र की हर प्रकार से पूजाअर्चना करें. (३)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Indra animals etc. have many types of wealth. They give a lot of money to those who praise them. You should worship Indra, who gives the best wealth, in every way. (3)
तं वो दस्ममृतीषहं वसोर्मन्दानमन्धसः । अभि वत्सं न स्वसरेषु धेनव इन्द्रं गीर्भिर्नवामहे ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! जैसे गाएं बछड़ों को देख कर खुशी से रंभाती हैं, वैसे ही आप भी सोमरस पीने से प्रसन्न इंद्र के लिए स्तुति गाइए. वे शत्रुओं (दुःखों) का नाश करने वाले हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Just as cows are happy to see calves, similarly you should also sing praises for Indra, pleased with drinking someras. They are the destroyers of enemies (sorrows). (4)
तरोभिर्वो विदद्वसुमिन्द्रँ सबाध ऊतये । बृहद्गायन्तः सुतसोमे अध्वरे हुवे भरं न कारिणम् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! इंद्र के बहुत तेज गति वाले घोड़े हैं. वे इंद्र बहुत धनदाता हैं. वे बाधाओं से हमारी रक्षा करते हैं. हम बृहत्साम गाते हुए उन को उसी प्रकार रक्षा के लिए बुलाते हैं, जैसे बच्चे अपनी रक्षा के लिए अपने मातापिता को बुलाते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Indra has very fast-paced horses. He is a very rich indra. They protect us from obstacles. We sing Brihatsam and call them for protection in the same way as children call their parents to protect themselves. (5)
तरणिरित्सिषासति वाजं पुरन्ध्या युजा । आ व इन्द्रं पुरुहूतं नमे गिरा नेमिं तष्टेव सुद्रुवम् ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
इंद्र तारनहार हैं. हम बुद्धि से अन्न प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं. जैसे बढ़ई अपनी कारीगरी से लकड़ी को नम्र कर के पहिए को गाड़ी के अनुकूल कर लेता है, वैसे ही हम इंद्र देव को अपनी स्तुतियों से अपने अनुकूल करना चाहते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
Indra is a saviour. We want to get food from our intellects. Just as the carpenter humbles the wood with his workmanship and adapts the wheel to the car, in the same way, we want to adapt Indra Dev to ourselves with our praises. (6)
पिबा सुतस्य रसिनो मत्स्वा न इन्द्र गोमतः । आपिर्नो बोधि सधमाद्ये वृधे३ऽस्माँ अवन्तु ते धियः ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! आप गाय का दूध मिला कर तैयार किए हुए रसीले सोमरस को पीजिए. उसे पी कर आप प्रसन्न होइए. आप हमें धन देने वाले बंधु बनिए. आप हमें प्रगति की राह दिखाइए. आप की बुद्धि हम यजमानों की रक्षा करे. (७)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You should drink succulent somers prepared by mixing cow's milk. You are happy to drink it. You become brothers who give us money. You show us the path to progress. May your wisdom protect us hosts. (7)
त्वँ ह्येहि चेरवे विदा भगं वसुत्तये । उद्वावृषस्व मघवन्गविष्टय उदिन्द्राश्वमिष्टये ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र! आप मुझे धन देने के लिए आइए. अच्छे आचारविचार वाले हम लोगों को राह दिखाइए व धन दीजिए. हम गायों के इच्छुक हैं. हमें गोधन दीजिए. हम घोड़ों के इच्छुक हैं. हमें अश्वधन दीजिए. (८)
EN English Translation
O Indra! You come to give me money. Show the way to us with good conduct and give money. We are keen on cows. Give us godhon. We are willing to have horses. Give us horse money. (8)
न हि वश्चरमं च न वसिष्ठः परिमँस्ते । अस्माकमद्य मरुतः सुते सचा विश्वे पिबन्तु कामिनः ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे मरुद्गणो! वसिष्ठ ऋषि आप में से छोटों को भी छोड़ कर स्तुति नहीं करते हैं अर्थात् छोटों की भी स्तुति करते हैं. आज हमारे इस सोम यज्ञ में आप सभी इकट्ठे हो कर सोमरस पीजिए. (९)
EN English Translation
O Marudgano! Vasishtha Rishi does not praise even the little ones of you, that is, praises the little ones too. Today, in this Som Yagya of ours, all of you should gather and drink Someras. (9)
मा चिदन्यद्वि शँसत सखायो मा रिषण्यत । इन्द्रमित्स्तोता वृषणँ सचा सुते मुहुरुक्था च शँसत ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! आप इंद्र के अलावा किसी अन्य देव की स्तुति मत करो. बेकार मेहनत मत करो. एक साथ सोम यज्ञ में बलवान इंद्र की ही स्तुति करो. उन्हीं के बारे में प्रार्थनाओं को बारबार उचारो. (१०)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Don't praise any god other than Indra. Don't work hard. Praise the strong Indra in the Soma Yagya together. Pray about them again and again. (10)
