शिशुं जज्ञानँ हर्यतं मृजन्ति शुम्भन्ति विप्रं मरुतो गणेन । कविर्गीर्भिः काव्येना कविः सन्त्सोमः पवित्रमत्येति रेभन् ॥ (१)

हे सोम! आप ब्राह्मण हैं. आप बच्चे की तरह सब के मन को खिला देते हैं. मरुद्गण आप को परिमार्जित करते हैं. कवि काव्यों से आप की स्तुति करते हैं. आप आवाज करते हुए पवित्र हो जाते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
O Mon! You are a Brahmin. You feed everyone's mind like a child. Deserts refine you. Poets praise you with poems. You become holy while making a sound. (1)
सोमः पुनानो अर्षति सहस्रधारो अत्यविः । वायोरिन्द्रस्य निष्कृतम् ॥ (१)

वायु और इंद्र के लिए सोमरस निचोड़ा गया है. सोमरस पवित्र व सहस्र धारा वाला है. भेड़ के बालों की छलनी से छान कर उसे तैयार किया गया है. (१)

Somerus has been squeezed for Vayu and Indra. Someras is holy and has a thousand streams. The sheep's hair has been filtered with a sieve and prepared. (1)
सोमा असृग्रमिन्दवः सुता ऋतस्य धारया । इन्द्राय मधुमत्तमाः ॥ (१)

हे सोम! आप अग्रगामी व मधुरतम हैं. आप को ऋत् की धारा के साथ इंद्र के लिए प्रस्तुत किया जाता है. (१)

O Mon! You are the forerunner and the sweetest. You are presented to Indra with the stream of Rita. (1)
उत्ते शुष्मास ईरते सिन्धोरूर्मेरिव स्वनः । वाणस्य चोदया पविम् ॥ (१)

हे सोम! आप की आवाज समुद्र की तरंगों जैसी है. आप समुद्र की तरह ही गति से बहते हैं. आप पवित्र वाणी को प्रेरित करने की कृपा कीजिए. (१)

O Mon! Your voice is like the waves of the sea. You flow at the same speed as the sea. Please inspire holy speech. (1)
अया वीती परि स्रव यस्त इन्दो मदेष्वा । अवाहन्नवतीर्नव ॥ (१)

हे सोम! आप इंद्र के लिए परिष्कृत होइए. आप इंद्र को आनंद प्रदान कीजिए. आप नएनए कष्टों को दूर करने की कृपा कीजिए. (१)

O Mon! You be sophisticated for Indra. You give pleasure to Indra. Please remove your sufferings. (1)
अग्निं वो देवमग्निभिः सजोषा यजिष्ठं दूतमध्वरे कृणुध्वम् । यो मर्त्येषु निध्रुविरृतावा तपुर्मूर्धा घृतान्नः पावकः ॥ (१)

हे देवगण! अग्नि सर्वत्र पूज्य हैं. आप यज्ञ में उन को दूत बना कर भेजने की कृपा कीजिए. वे मनुष्यों के मित्र और पवित्र हैं. घृत (घी) उन का अन्न है. वे तेजस्वी हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
O Gods! Agni is revered everywhere. Please send them as messengers in the yajna. They are friends and holy to human beings. Ghee (ghee) is their food. They are stunning. (1)
अध्वर्यो अद्रिभिः सुतँ सोमं पवित्र आ नय । पुनाहीन्द्राय पातवे ॥ (१)

हे पुरोहितो! सोमरस पवित्र है. पाषाणों से कूट कर इस का रस निकाला गया है. उस को छन्ने में छान कर परिष्कृत किया गया है ताकि इंद्र उसे पी सकें. (१)
EN English Translation
O priests! Somerus is holy. Its juice has been extracted by crushing it with stones. It has been filtered and refined in the filter so that Indra can drink it. (1)
पवस्व देव आयुषगिन्द्रं गच्छतु ते मदः । वायुमा रोह धर्मणा ॥ (१)

हे सोम! आप का रस मददायी हो कर इंद्र तक जाए. आप का रस शक्तिमान हो कर वायु तक पहुंचने की कृपा करे. आप पवित्र हैं. आप यजमान को आयुष्मान बनाने की कृपा कीजिए. (१)
EN English Translation
O Mon! Your juice should be intoxicating and go to Indra. Please be strong and reach the air. You are holy. Please make the host Ayushmann. (1)
प्रेष्ठं वो अतिर्थिँ स्तुषे मित्रमिव प्रियम् । अग्ने रथं न वेद्यम् ॥ (१)

हे अग्नि! आप बहुत अधिक प्रिय व हमारे मेहमान हैं. आप हमें मित्र जैसे प्रिय और सर्वज्ञाता हैं. आप हविवाहक हैं. हम आप की स्तुति करते हैं. (१)

O agni! You are so dear and our guest. You are dear and well-known as our friends. You are a marriage. We praise you. (1)
ऋषिमना य ऋषिकृत्स्वर्षाः सहस्रनीथः पदवीः कवीनाम् । तृतीयं धाम महिषः सिषासन्त्सोमो विराजमनु राजति ष्टुप् ॥ (२)

हे सोम! आप ऋषियों जैसे मन वाले और उन जैसा गुण प्रदान करने वाले हैं. आप तीसरे धाम के राजा इंद्र को और तेजस्वी बनाने वाले हैं. आप कवियों की पदवी और सहस्रकर्मा हैं. (२)

O Mon! You are like sages with a mind and a quality like them. You are going to make Indra, the king of the third dham, more stunning. You are the title of poet and sahasrakarma. (2)
पवमानमवस्यवो विप्रमभि प्र गायत । सुष्वाणं देववीतये ॥ (२)

हे ब्राह्मणो! सोम आप को पवित्र करने वाले हैं. आप देवताओं से अपने संरक्षण की कामना कीजिए. आप इन के लिए स्तुतियां गाइए. (२)

O Brahmins! Som is going to sanctify you. Wish the gods your protection. Sing praises for them. (2)
अभि विप्रा अनूषत गावो वत्सं न धेनवः । इन्द्रँ सोमस्य पीतये ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! आप सोमरस पीने के लिए इंद्र से स्तुतियों के साथ अनुरोध कीजिए. उन्हें सोम पिलाने के लिए आप उतने ही व्याकुल हो जाइए, जितनी व्याकुल गाएं अपने बछड़ों को दूध पिलाने के लिए हो जाती हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O hosts! You request Indra with praises to drink someras. To make them drink som, you become as distraught as the distraught cows become to feed their calves. (2)
प्रसवे त उदीरते तिस्रो वाचो मखस्युवः । यदव्य एषि सानवि ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! आप के प्रसव (उत्पन्न) होने के बाद यजमान के मुख से तीन वाणियां (ऋगवेद, यजुर्वेद और सामवेद के मंत्रों की) उच्चरित होती हैं. तत्पश्चात आप को ऊंचे स्थान पर बैठा कर परिष्कृत किया जाता है. (२)
EN English Translation
O Mon! After you are born, three verses (of mantras of RigVeda, Yajurveda and Samaveda) are recited from the mouth of the host. After that you are refined by sitting in a high position. (2)
पुरः सद्य इत्थाधिये दिवोदासाय शम्बरम् । अध त्यं तुर्वशं यदुम् ॥ (२)

हे सोम! आप का रस पीने के बाद ही इंद्र ने शंबरासुर, तुर्वश और यदु को मारा. इन तीनों का नाश इंद्र ने यज्ञ करने वाले दिवोदास के लिए किया. (२)
EN English Translation
O Mon! It was only after drinking your juice that Indra killed Shambrasura, Turvasha and Yadu. Indra destroyed these three for Divodas, who performed the yagna. (2)
प्रोथदश्वो न यवसेऽविष्यन्यदा महः संवरणाद्व्यस्थात् । आदस्य वातो अनु वाति शोचिरध स्म ते व्रजनं कृष्णमस्ति ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
घोड़े जैसे घास चर जाते हैं, उसी तरह अग्नि (दावाग्नि) वृक्षों को चट कर जाते हैं. वे हवा के मार्ग का अनुकरण करते हैं. उन का मार्ग पवित्र और काले धुएं वाला है. (२)
EN English Translation
Just as horses graze grass, agni (dawaagni) devours trees. They simulate the path of the wind. Their path is holy and black smoke. (2)
तव त्य इन्दो अन्धसो देवा मधोर्व्याशत । पवमानस्य मरुतः ॥ (२)

हे सोम! आप पवित्र व मधुमय हैं. इंद्र और मरुद्गण आप के इस सोमरस को पीते हैं. (२)

O Mon! You are pure and sweet. Indra and Marudgana drink this someras of yours. (2)
पवमान नि तोशसे रयिँ सोम श्रवाय्यम् । इन्दो समुद्रमा विश ॥ (२)

हे सोम! आप पवित्र व संतुष्टिदायक हैं. आप दुष्टों को दंड देने की कृपा कीजिए. हम आप का आह्वान करते हैं. (२)

O Mon! You are pure and gratifying. Please punish the wicked. We call upon you. (2)
कविमिव प्रशँस्यं यं देवास इति द्विता । नि मर्त्येष्वादधुः ॥ (२)

देवताओं ने कवि की भांति दो रूपों (गार्हपत्य और आहवनीय) में मनुष्यों में अग्नि को प्रतिष्ठित किया. (२)
EN English Translation
The gods, like poets, distinguished agni among human beings in two forms (garhapatya and ahvanya). (2)
चमूषच्छ्येनः शकुनो विभृत्वा गोविन्दुर्द्रप्स आयुधानि बिभ्रत् । अपामूर्मिँ सचमानः समुद्रं तुरीयं धाम महिषो विवक्ति ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! आप अस्त्रशस्त्रधारी हैं व गायों के दूध में मिलाए जाते हैं. आप की लहरें समुद्र की लहरों के समान और राजा हैं. आप तुरीय धाम (मोक्ष धाम) में विराजते व सुशोभित होते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
O Mon! You are a weapon and are mixed with cow's milk. The waves of you are similar to the waves of the sea and the king. You sit and adorn in turiya dham (moksha dham). (3)
पवन्ते वाजसातये सोमाः सहस्रपाजसः । गृणाना देववीतये ॥ (३)

हे सोम! आप अन्न प्रदान करने के लिए अपनी सहस्र धाराओं से झरिए. देवताओं को भेंट करने के लिए आप को परिष्कृत किया जाता है. (३)

O Mon! You jump with your thousand streams to provide food. You are refined to offer to the gods. (3)
मदच्युत्क्षेति सादने सिन्धोरूर्मा विपश्चित् । सोमो गौरी अधि श्रितः ॥ (३)

हे सोम! आप मद चुआते हैं. आप यज्ञ गृह में स्थापित किए गए हैं. आप सिंधु स्वरूप हैं. आप सिंधु की लहरों की तरह वाणी को लहरा देते हैं. (३)

O Mon! You chew the item. You have been installed in the yagna griha. You are the Indus form. You wave the voice like the waves of the Indus. (3)
अव्या वारैः परि प्रियँ हरिँ हिन्वन्त्यद्रिभिः । पवमानं मधुश्चुतम् ॥ (३)

हे सोम! आप पवित्र हैं व मधु चुआते हैं. यजमान आप को पत्थर से कूट कर रस निकालते हैं. आप को जल से निमग्न कर देते हैं. आप को भेड़ के बालों से बनी छलनी से छान कर परिष्कृत किया जाता है. (३)
EN English Translation
O Mon! You are holy and you are sweet. The host crushes you with a stone and extracts juice. They submerge you with water. You are refined by filtering with a sieve made of sheep's hair. (3)
परि नो अश्वमश्वविद्गोमदिन्दो हिरण्यवत् । क्षरा सहस्रिणीरिषः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सोम! आप हमें अश्चों का ज्ञाता बनाइए. आप हमें अश्ववान, गोवान व स्वर्णवान बनाइए. आप सहस्र धाराओं से झरने की कृपा कीजिए. (३)

O Mon! You make us knowers of horses. You make us horse- and goan and golden. Please shower thousands of streams. (3)
उद्यस्य ते नवजातस्य वृष्णोऽग्ने चरन्त्यजरा इधानाः । अच्छा द्यामरुषो धूम एषि सं दूतो अग्न ईयसे हि देवान् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! आप की शीघ्र उत्पन्न ज्वालाएं वर्षा करने के लिए तैयार हैं. आप अजर, समिधा युक्त व देवताओं के दूत हैं. आप की लपटों का धुआं स्वर्गलोक में देवताओं तक (हवि सहित) पहुंच जाता है. (३)
EN English Translation
O agni! You are ready to rain the quickly generated flames. You are ajar, samidha yukta and messenger of the gods. The smoke of your flames reaches the gods (including Havi) in heaven. (3)
दिवः पीयूषमुत्तमँ सोममिन्द्राय वज्रिणे । सुनोता मधुमत्तमम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे यजमानो! सोमरस स्वर्गलोक का अमृत और सर्वश्रेष्ठ है. वज्रधारी इंद्र उस का पान करते हैं. अतः उन के लिए उस को परिष्कृत कीजिए. (३)
EN English Translation
O hosts! Someras is the elixir and best of paradise. Vajradhari Indra drinks it. So refine it for them. (3)
अपघ्नन्पवसे मृधः क्रतुवित्सोम मत्सरः । नुदस्वादेवयुं जनम् ॥ (३)

हे सोम! आप पवित्र हैं. आप यज्ञ की क्रियाविधि जानने वाले हैं. आप ईष्यालुओं और नास्तिकों को दूर करने की कृपा कीजिए. आप का प्रभाव देवताओं जैसा (दिव्य) है. (३)
EN English Translation
O Mon! You are holy. You are going to know the procedure of yajna. Please remove the gods and atheists. Your influence is like the gods (divine). (3)
त्वं यविष्ठ दाशुषो नॄँपाहि शृणुही गिरः । रक्षा तोकमुत त्मना ॥ (३)

हे इंद्र! आप हमारी वाणी सुनिए. आप हमें अपनी शरण में लीजिए. आप अपने यजमानों की स्तुति पर ध्यान दीजिए. आप उन की रक्षा के लिए सचेष्ट रहने की कृपा कीजिए. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra! Listen to our voice. You take us to your shelter. Pay attention to the praise of your hosts. Please be careful to protect them. (3)
एते सोमा अभि प्रियमिन्द्रस्य काममक्षरन् । वर्धन्तो अस्य वीर्यम् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
ये सोम इंद्र को प्रिय हैं. सोम कामनाओं की वर्षा करते हैं. ये उन के (इंद्र के) वीर्य को बढ़ाने वाले हैं. (४)

These are dear to Som Indra. Som showers wishes. These are going to increase his (Indra's) semen. (4)
उत नो वाजसातये पवस्व बृहतीरिषः । द्युमदिन्दो सुवीर्यम् ॥ (४)

हे सोम! आप पवित्र व विशाल हैं. आप हमें श्रेष्ठ वीर्यवान बनाने की कृपा कीजिए. (४)

O Mon! You are pure and vast. Please make us the best semen. (4)
दिवो नाभा विचक्षणोऽव्यो वारे महीयते । सोमो यः सुक्रतुः कविः ॥ (४)

हे सोम! आप श्रेष्ठ कर्मो वाले, कवि, स्वर्गलोक की नाभि, विलक्षण और महान हैं. आप जल में मिल कर महिमाशाली होते हैं. (४)

O Mon! You are the one with great deeds, the poet, the navel of heaven, the extraordinary and the great. You are glorious by meeting in water. (4)
