अबो॑ध्य॒ग्निः स॒मिधा॒ जना॑नां॒ प्रति॑ धे॒नुमि॑वाय॒तीमु॒षास॑म् । य॒ह्वा इ॑व॒ प्र व॒यामु॒ज्जिहा॑नाः॒ प्र भा॒नवः॑ सिस्रते॒ नाक॒मच्छ॑ ॥ (१)

गाय के समान आने वाली उषा के पश्चात् अध्वर्यु आदि की समिधाओं द्वारा अग्नि प्रज्वलित होते हैं. अग्नि की शिखाएं महान् हैं. अग्नि विस्तृत शाखाओं वाले वृक्ष के समान आकाश की ओर बढ़ते हैं. (१)
EN English Translation
After the usha that comes like a cow, agni is ignited by the committees of adhwaryu etc. The crests of agni are great. The agni moves towards the sky like a tree with wide branches. (1)
अबो॑धि॒ होता॑ य॒जथा॑य दे॒वानू॒र्ध्वो अ॒ग्निः सु॒मनाः॑ प्रा॒तर॑स्थात् । समि॑द्धस्य॒ रुश॑ददर्शि॒ पाजो॑ म॒हान्दे॒वस्तम॑सो॒ निर॑मोचि ॥ (२)

होता अग्नि देवसंबंधीयज्ञ के निमित्त प्रज्वलित होते हैं. वे प्रातःकाल प्रसन्न मन से ऊपर की ओर उठते हैं. प्रज्वलित अग्नि का तेजस्वी बल दिखाई देता है. इस प्रकार महान् देव तम से मुक्त होते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
The agni is ignited for the sake of the diviner. They rise upwards in the morning with a happy mind. The stunning force of the ignited agni is visible. Thus the great gods are free from the tama. (2)
यदीं॑ ग॒णस्य॑ रश॒नामजी॑गः॒ शुचि॑रङ्क्ते॒ शुचि॑भि॒र्गोभि॑र॒ग्निः । आद्दक्षि॑णा युज्यते वाज॒यन्त्यु॑त्ता॒नामू॒र्ध्वो अ॑धयज्जु॒हूभिः॑ ॥ (३)

रस्सी के समान संसार के व्यापारों को रोकने वाले अंधकार को अग्नि जब ग्रहण करते हैं, तब वे दीप्त होकर उज्ज्वल किरणों से संसार को प्रकट करते हैं. इसके बाद अग्नि बढ़ी हुई एवं अन्न की कामना करने वाली घृत धारा से मिलते हैं एवं ऊपर उठकर लपटों से उन्हें पीते हैं. (३)
EN English Translation
When they receive the agni of darkness that stops the trades of the world like a rope, they are illuminated and reveal to the world with bright rays. After this, the agnis meet the increased and the deafening stream of food is desired and rise up and drink them with flames. (3)
अ॒ग्निमच्छा॑ देवय॒तां मनां॑सि॒ चक्षूं॑षीव॒ सूर्ये॒ सं च॑रन्ति । यदीं॒ सुवा॑ते उ॒षसा॒ विरू॑पे श्वे॒तो वा॒जी जा॑यते॒ अग्रे॒ अह्ना॑म् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यजमानों का मन उसी प्रकार अग्नि के सम्मुख जाता है, जिस प्रकार प्राणियों की आंखें सूर्य की ओर जाती हैं. धरती-आकाश जब उषा के साथ अग्नि को उत्पन्न करते हैं, उस प्रातःकाल में अग्नि उत्तमवर्ण वाले घोड़ों के समान उत्पन्न होते हैं. (४)
EN English Translation
The mind of the hosts goes to the agni in the same way that the eyes of the beings go towards the sun. When the earth and the sky produce agni with usha, in that morning the agni is produced like the horses of the best color. (4)
जनि॑ष्ट॒ हि जेन्यो॒ अग्रे॒ अह्नां॑ हि॒तो हि॒तेष्व॑रु॒षो वने॑षु । दमे॑दमे स॒प्त रत्ना॒ दधा॑नो॒ऽग्निर्होता॒ नि ष॑सादा॒ यजी॑यान् ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
उत्पन्न करने योग्य अग्नि प्रातःकाल उत्पन्न होते हैं एवं दीप्तिशाली बनकर अपने मित्र वनों में स्थित होते हैं. उसके बाद अग्नि सात सुंदर ज्वालाएं धारण करते हैं एवं प्रत्येक यज्ञशाला में होता तथा यजनीय बनकर बैठते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
The agnis that are generated are produced in the morning and are bright and located in their friend forests. After that, the agni holds seven beautiful flames and each is in the yajnashala and sits down as a yajanya. (5)
अ॒ग्निर्होता॒ न्य॑सीद॒द्यजी॑यानु॒पस्थे॑ मा॒तुः सु॑र॒भा उ॑ लो॒के । युवा॑ क॒विः पु॑रुनि॒ष्ठ ऋ॒तावा॑ ध॒र्ता कृ॑ष्टी॒नामु॒त मध्य॑ इ॒द्धः ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि होता एवं यजनीय के रूप में धरती माता की गोद में बने एवं घृत आदि से सुगंधित वेदी नामक स्थान में बैठते हैं. युवा, कवि एवं अनेक स्थानों वाले अग्नि सबके धारक एवं यज्ञस्वामी बनकर यजमानों के बीच प्रज्वलित होते हैं. (६)
EN English Translation
The agni takes place and sits in a place called the altar, which is made on the lap of mother earth as a yogenarian and scented with abrasive etc. The youth, the poets and the agnis of many places are ignited among the hosts by becoming the bearers and yagnaswamis of all. (6)
प्र णु त्यं विप्र॑मध्व॒रेषु॑ सा॒धुम॒ग्निं होता॑रमीळते॒ नमो॑भिः । आ यस्त॒तान॒ रोद॑सी ऋ॒तेन॒ नित्यं॑ मृजन्ति वा॒जिनं॑ घृ॒तेन॑ ॥ (७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यजमान मेधावी, यज्ञों का फल देने वाले एवं होता अग्नि की स्तुति वचनों द्वारा प्रशंसा करते हैं. जो अग्नि जल द्वारा नित्य धरती-आकाश का विस्तार करते हैं, यजमान उन अन्नयुक्त-अग्नि की सदा सेवा करते हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
Hosts are brilliant, the givers of sacrifices and praises the agni with words. Those who expand the earth-sky continuously by agni water, the hosts always serve those granaries- agni. (7)
मा॒र्जा॒ल्यो॑ मृज्यते॒ स्वे दमू॑नाः कविप्रश॒स्तो अति॑थिः शि॒वो नः॑ । स॒हस्र॑शृङ्गो वृष॒भस्तदो॑जा॒ विश्वा॑ँ अग्ने॒ सह॑सा॒ प्रास्य॒न्यान् ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सबको पवित्र करने वाले अग्नि अपने स्थान में पूजे जाते हैं. कवियों द्वारा प्रशंसित अग्नि हमारे लिए अतिथि के समान पूज्य एवं सुखकर हैं. अग्नि का प्रसिद्ध बल अपरिमित ज्वालाओं वाला, कामवर्षी एवं अन्य सबको पराभूत करने वाला है. (८)
EN English Translation
The agni that sanctifies all is worshipped in its place. The agni, admired by the poets, is as revered and pleasant as a guest to us. The famous force of agni is one with infinite flames, the one who is going to defeat the workman and everyone else. (8)
प्र स॒द्यो अ॑ग्ने॒ अत्ये॑ष्य॒न्याना॒विर्यस्मै॒ चारु॑तमो ब॒भूथ॑ । ई॒ळेन्यो॑ वपु॒ष्यो॑ वि॒भावा॑ प्रि॒यो वि॒शामति॑थि॒र्मानु॑षीणाम् ॥ (९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! तुम यज्ञ को प्राप्त करके अपने अन्य तेजों को पराजित करते हुए उत्पन्न होते हो. तुम स्तुतियोग्य, दीप्तिकारक, उज्ज्वल, प्राणियों के प्रिय एवं मानवों के अतिथि हो. (९)
EN English Translation
O agni! You are born by attaining the yajna defeating your other radiances. You are praiseworthy, radiant, bright, beloved of beings and guests of human beings. (9)
तुभ्यं॑ भरन्ति क्षि॒तयो॑ यविष्ठ ब॒लिम॑ग्ने॒ अन्ति॑त॒ ओत दू॒रात् । आ भन्दि॑ष्ठस्य सुम॒तिं चि॑किद्धि बृ॒हत्ते॑ अग्ने॒ महि॒ शर्म॑ भ॒द्रम् ॥ (१०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अतिशय युवा अग्नि! मानव-समूह पास एवं दूर से तुम्हें बलि देते हैं. तुम अतिशय स्तुतिकर्ता की स्तुति स्वीकार करते हो. हे अग्नि! तुम्हारे द्वारा दिया हुआ सुख महान् एवं कल्याणकारी है. (१०)
EN English Translation
O very young agni! Human groups sacrifice you from near and far away. You accept the praise of the most praiseworthy. O agni! The happiness you give is great and beneficial. (10)
आद्य रथं॑ भानुमो भानु॒मन्त॒मग्ने॒ तिष्ठ॑ यज॒तेभिः॒ सम॑न्तम् । वि॒द्वान्प॑थी॒नामु॒र्व१॒॑न्तरि॑क्ष॒मेह दे॒वान्ह॑वि॒रद्या॑य वक्षि ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे तेजस्वी अग्नि! तुम आज देवों के साथ दीप्तिशाली एवं सर्वांग सुंदर रथ पर चढ़ो. मार्गो को जानने वाले तुम विशाल आकाश में होकर देवों को हव्य भक्षण के लिए यहां लाते हो. (११)
EN English Translation
O glorious agni! Today you climb on a bright and all-round beautiful chariot with the gods. Those who know Margao, you are in the vast sky and bring the gods here for havya devouring. (11)
अवो॑चाम क॒वये॒ मेध्या॑य॒ वचो॑ व॒न्दारु॑ वृष॒भाय॒ वृष्णे॑ । गवि॑ष्ठिरो॒ नम॑सा॒ स्तोम॑म॒ग्नौ दि॒वी॑व रु॒क्ममु॑रु॒व्यञ्च॑मश्रेत् ॥ (१२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हम मेधावी, पवित्र, कामवर्षी व युवा अग्नि के निमित्त वंदनापूर्ण स्तोत्र बोलते हैं. गविष्ठिर ऋषि आकाश में दीप्त एवं विस्तृत गति वाले आदित्य के समान अग्नि के प्रति नमस्कारपूर्ण स्तुति बोलते हैं. (१२)
EN English Translation
We speak devotional hymns for the meritorious, the holy, the workable and the young agni. The sage Gavishtira speaks a salutation to the agni like aditya, who is bright and fast in the sky. (12)
