सोम॑स्य मा त॒वसं॒ वक्ष्य॑ग्ने॒ वह्निं॑ चकर्थ वि॒दथे॒ यज॑ध्यै । दे॒वाँ अच्छा॒ दीद्य॑द्यु॒ञ्जे अद्रिं॑ शमा॒ये अ॑ग्ने त॒न्वं॑ जुषस्व ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! यज्ञ करने के निमित्त तुमने मुझे सोमरस का वाहक बनाया है, इसलिए मुझे शक्तिशाली बनाने की इच्छा करो. प्रकाशयुक्त होता हुआ मैं देवों को लक्ष्य करके सोमरस निचोड़ने के लिए पत्थर उठाता हूं एवं स्तोत्र बोलता हूं. तुम मेरे शरीर की रक्षा करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O agni! You have made me the bearer of the Somras for the sake of performing the yajna, so desire to make me powerful. As I light up, I aim at the gods and pick up stones to squeeze the somras and speak hymns. You protect my body. (1)
प्राञ्चं॑ य॒ज्ञं च॑कृम॒ वर्ध॑तां॒ गीः स॒मिद्भि॑र॒ग्निं नम॑सा दुवस्यन् । दि॒वः श॑शासुर्वि॒दथा॑ कवी॒नां गृत्सा॑य चित्त॒वसे॑ गा॒तुमी॑षुः ॥ (२)

हे अग्नि! तुमने पूर्वकाल में यज्ञ किया है. हमारे स्तुति वचनों की वृद्धि हो. मेरे आत्मीय लोग समिधाओं एवं हव्य द्वारा अग्नि की सेवा करें. देवों ने स्वर्ग से आकर स्तोताओं को ज्ञान दिया है. वे स्तुति की हुई एवं प्रज्वलित अग्नि की स्तुति करना चाहते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O agni! You have performed yajna in the past. Let our praise be the growth of words. May my intimate people serve the agni through the samidahas and the human beings. The gods have come from heaven and given knowledge to the psalms. They want to praise the praised and ignited agni. (2)
मयो॑ दधे॒ मेधि॑रः पू॒तद॑क्षो दि॒वः सु॒बन्धु॑र्ज॒नुषा॑ पृथि॒व्याः । अवि॑न्दन्नु दर्श॒तम॒प्स्व१॒॑न्तर्दे॒वासो॑ अ॒ग्निम॒पसि॒ स्वसॄ॑णाम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मेधावी, शुद्धबलयुक्त, जन्म से ही उत्तम बंधु, स्वर्ग का सुख विधान करने वाले एवं सुंदर अग्नि को हमने बहने वाली नदियों के जल के भीतर से यज्ञकार्य के हेतु प्राप्त किया है. (३)
EN English Translation
We have obtained the meritorious, pure-strength, the best brothers from birth, the happy ones of heaven and the beautiful agni for the work of yajna from within the waters of the rivers flowing. (3)
अव॑र्धयन्सु॒भगं॑ स॒प्त य॒ह्वीः श्वे॒तं ज॑ज्ञा॒नम॑रु॒षं म॑हि॒त्वा । शिशुं॒ न जा॒तम॒भ्या॑रु॒रश्वा॑ दे॒वासो॑ अ॒ग्निं जनि॑मन्वपुष्यन् ॥ (४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
शोभन धन वाले, उज्ज्वल एवं महत्त्व से प्रकाशित जल में स्थित अग्नि को सात नदियों ने बढ़ाया. घोड़ी जिस प्रकार तुरंत जन्मे बछड़े के पास जाती है, उसी प्रकार नदियां उत्पन्न अग्नि के समीप गई. देवों ने अग्ने को उत्पन्न होते ही प्रकाशमान किया. (४)
EN English Translation
The agni, located in the water of rich, bright and significant, illuminated by seven rivers, was amplified. Just as the horse immediately goes to the calf born, so the rivers go near the agni. The gods made Agne shine as soon as it was born. (4)
शु॒क्रेभि॒रङ्गै॒ रज॑ आतत॒न्वान्क्रतुं॑ पुना॒नः क॒विभिः॑ प॒वित्रैः॑ । शो॒चिर्वसा॑नः॒ पर्यायु॑र॒पां श्रियो॑ मिमीते बृह॒तीरनू॑नाः ॥ (५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि उज्ज्वल तेजों के द्वारा अंतरिक्ष को व्याप्त करते हुए यजमान को स्तुति योग्य एवं पवित्र तेजों से शुद्ध करते हैं तथा दीप्ति को धारण करके यजमान को धन एवं सारी संपत्तियां देते हैं. (५)
EN English Translation
Fire pervades the space by bright radiances, purifying the host with praiseworthy and sacred radiances and giving wealth and all the possessions to the host by holding the lampstand. (5)
व॒व्राजा॑ सी॒मन॑दती॒रद॑ब्धा दि॒वो य॒ह्वीरव॑साना॒ अन॑ग्नाः । सना॒ अत्र॑ युव॒तयः॒ सयो॑नी॒रेकं॒ गर्भं॑ दधिरे स॒प्त वाणीः॑ ॥ (६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जल का भक्षण न करते हुए एवं जल के द्वारा नष्ट होते हुए अंतरिक्ष की संतान के समान एवं वस्त्र ढके न होने पर भी जल से घिरे होने के कारण अनने नंगे नहीं हैं. सनातन, नित्य तरुण एवं एक स्थान से उत्पन्न सात नदियों ने अग्नि को गर्भ के समान धारण किया. (६)
EN English Translation
Without eating water and being destroyed by water, they are not naked because of being surrounded by water even if they are not covered with clothes and like the offspring of space and clothes are not covered. The seven rivers of Sanatan, Nitya Tarun and one place, conceived of agni as a womb. (6)
स्ती॒र्णा अ॑स्य सं॒हतो॑ वि॒श्वरू॑पा घृ॒तस्य॒ योनौ॑ स्र॒वथे॒ मधू॑नाम् । अस्थु॒रत्र॑ धे॒नवः॒ पिन्व॑माना म॒ही द॒स्मस्य॑ मा॒तरा॑ समी॒ची ॥ (७)

अनेक रूप वाली एवं सब जगह फैली हुई अग्नि की किरणें जलवर्षा के पश्चात् जल के उत्पत्ति स्थान आकाश में एकत्रित रहती हैं. सबको प्रसन्न करने वाली जलरूपी गाएं इसी अग्नि में रहती हैं. विशाल धरती और आकाश सुंदर अग्नि के माता-पिता हैं. (७)
EN English Translation
The rays of agni having many forms and spreading everywhere, after the water rain, the place of origin of water remains collected in the sky. Water-like cows, which please everyone, live in this agni. The vast earth and sky are the parents of beautiful Agni. (7)
ब॒भ्रा॒णः सू॑नो सहसो॒ व्य॑द्यौ॒द्दधा॑नः शु॒क्रा र॑भ॒सा वपूं॑षि । श्चोत॑न्ति॒ धारा॒ मधु॑नो घृ॒तस्य॒ वृषा॒ यत्र॑ वावृ॒धे काव्ये॑न ॥ (८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे बल के पुत्र अग्नि! तुम सबके द्वारा धारण किए जाकर भास्कर एवं वेग वाली किरणें धारण करते हुए प्रकाशित होते हो. अग्नि जिस समय स्तोत्र के कारण बढ़ते हैं, उस समय मीठे जल की धाराएं गिरती हैं. (८)
EN English Translation
O son of strength, agni! You are all carried and illuminated by bhaskara and wearing the rays of velocity. At the time when the agni increases due to the hymn, the streams of freshwater fall. (8)
पि॒तुश्चि॒दूध॑र्ज॒नुषा॑ विवेद॒ व्य॑स्य॒ धारा॑ असृज॒द्वि धेनाः॑ । गुहा॒ चर॑न्तं॒ सखि॑भिः शि॒वेभि॑र्दि॒वो य॒ह्वीभि॒र्न गुहा॑ बभूव ॥ (९)

जन्म लेते ही अग्नि ने अपने पिता अंतरिक्ष के स्तनों में स्थित जल को जान लिया. वहां से जलधाराओं को बहाया एवं मध्यमा वाणियों को विसर्जित किया. अपने कल्याणकारी वायुरूपी बंधुओं के साथ स्थित होकर आकाश के संतानरूपी जलों के साथ गुफा में रहने वाली अग्नि को कोई प्राप्त नहीं कर सका. (९)
EN English Translation
As soon as he was born, Agni came to know the water in the breasts of his father's space. From there the streams flowed and immersed the medium forests. No one could get the agni that lived in the cave with the offspring waters of the sky, located with their welfare air-like brothers. (9)
पि॒तुश्च॒ गर्भं॑ जनि॒तुश्च॑ बभ्रे पू॒र्वीरेको॑ अधय॒त्पीप्या॑नाः । वृष्णे॑ स॒पत्नी॒ शुच॑ये॒ सब॑न्धू उ॒भे अ॑स्मै मनु॒ष्ये॒३॒॑ नि पा॑हि ॥ (१०)

अग्नि अपने पिता अंतरिक्ष का गर्भ अर्थात् जल एवं अपने जन्मदाता ब्राह्मण का गर्भ अर्थात् लोकपोषण धारण करते हैं. अकेले अग्नि अनेक रूप में वृद्धि प्राप्त ओषधियों का भक्षण करते हैं. परस्पर सौत एवं मनुष्यों का कल्याण करने वाले धरती-आकाश कामवर्षक अन्नि के बंधु हैं. हे अग्नि! तुम इन दोनों की रक्षा करो. (१०)
EN English Translation
Agni holds the womb of his father space i.e. water and the womb of his father, brahmin, i.e. public nutrition. Fire alone feeds on the herbs that have increased in many forms. The earth-sky workers who are mutually sovereign and do good to human beings are brothers of anni. O agni! You protect these two. (10)
उ॒रौ म॒हाँ अ॑निबा॒धे व॑व॒र्धापो॑ अ॒ग्निं य॒शसः॒ सं हि पू॒र्वीः । ऋ॒तस्य॒ योना॑वशय॒द्दमू॑ना जामी॒नाम॒ग्निर॒पसि॒ स्वसॄ॑णाम् ॥ (११)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
महान् अग्नि बाधारहित एवं विशाल आकाश में बढ़ते हैं, क्योंकि अनेक प्रकार के अन्नों से युक्त जल अग्नि को भली प्रकार बढ़ाता है. जल के उत्पत्ति स्थान आकाश में स्थित अग्नि नदीरूपी बहिनों के जल में शांतचित्त से सोते हैं. (११)
EN English Translation
Great agnis grow in the uninterrupted and vast sky, because the water containing many kinds of grains increases the agni well. The origin of the water sleeps peacefully in the waters of the agni river-like sisters located in the sky. (11)
अ॒क्रो न ब॒भ्रिः स॑मि॒थे म॒हीनां॑ दिदृ॒क्षेयः॑ सू॒नवे॒ भाऋ॑जीकः । उदु॒स्रिया॒ जनि॑ता॒ यो ज॒जाना॒पां गर्भो॒ नृत॑मो य॒ह्वो अ॒ग्निः ॥ (१२)

संपूर्ण लोक के जनक, जल के गर्भ के समान, मानवों के परम रक्षक, महान्, शत्रुओं पर आक्रमण करने वाले, संग्राम में अपनी विशाल सेनाओं के रक्षक, परम सुंदर एवं अपनी ज्योति से प्रकाशमान अग्नि ने यजमान के लिए जल पैदा किया है. (१२)
EN English Translation
The father of the whole world, like the womb of water, the supreme protector of human beings, the great, the invaders of enemies, the protectors of his vast armies in the struggle, the most beautiful and the agni shining with its light, has created water for the host. (12)
अ॒पां गर्भं॑ दर्श॒तमोष॑धीनां॒ वना॑ जजान सु॒भगा॒ विरू॑पम् । दे॒वास॑श्चि॒न्मन॑सा॒ सं हि ज॒ग्मुः पनि॑ष्ठं जा॒तं त॒वसं॑ दुवस्यन् ॥ (१३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सौभाग्यशाली एवं सुखदाता अरणि ने दर्शनीय एवं भांति-भांति की ओषधियों के गर्भ के समान अग्नि को जन्म दिया. समस्त देव स्तुतियोग्य, उन्नत एवं तुरंत उत्पन्न अग्नि के समीप स्तुति करते हुए गए एवं उन्होंने अग्नि की सेवा की. (१३)
EN English Translation
The lucky and happy Arani gave birth to the agni like the womb of a spectacular and variety of herbs. All the gods went to praise, to the agni that was praiseworthy, advanced, and immediately created, and they served the agni. (13)
बृ॒हन्त॒ इद्भा॒नवो॒ भाऋ॑जीकम॒ग्निं स॑चन्त वि॒द्युतो॒ न शु॒क्राः । गुहे॑व वृ॒द्धं सद॑सि॒ स्वे अ॒न्तर॑पा॒र ऊ॒र्वे अ॒मृतं॒ दुहा॑नाः ॥ (१४)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गहरे सागर के मध्य अमृतरूपी जल को बिखेरते हुए महान् सूर्य की चमकती हुई बिजलियों के समान सूर्यगण अपने निवासस्थान अंतरिक्ष में बढ़ते एवं अपनी चमक से जलती हुई अग्नि का सहारा लेते हैं. अंतरिक्ष गुहा के समान है. (१४)
EN English Translation
The suns, like the shining lightnings of the great sun, scatter the nectar water in the middle of the deep ocean, grow in their habitat space and resort to agni burning with their brightness. the space cavity is similar. (14)
ईळे॑ च त्वा॒ यज॑मानो ह॒विर्भि॒रीळे॑ सखि॒त्वं सु॑म॒तिं निका॑मः । दे॒वैरवो॑ मिमीहि॒ सं ज॑रि॒त्रे रक्षा॑ च नो॒ दम्ये॑भि॒रनी॑कैः ॥ (१५)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं यजमान हव्यं के द्वारा तुम्हारी स्तुति करता हूं एवं धर्मविषयक उत्तमबुद्धि पाने की इच्छा से तुम्हारे साथ मित्रता की याचना करता हूं. देवों के साथ मेरे पशुओं एवं मुझ स्तोता की अपने अदमनीय तेज द्वारा रक्षा करो. (१५)
EN English Translation
I praise you through host harmony and ask for friendship with you with the desire to have the best sense of righteousness. Protect my animals and my hymns with the gods by your indomitable brightness. (15)
उ॒प॒क्षे॒तार॒स्तव॑ सुप्रणी॒तेऽग्ने॒ विश्वा॑नि॒ धन्या॒ दधा॑नाः । सु॒रेत॑सा॒ श्रव॑सा॒ तुञ्ज॑माना अ॒भि ष्या॑म पृतना॒यूँरदे॑वान् ॥ (१६)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे उत्तम नेता अग्नि! तुम्हारे समीप जाते हुए हम पशु आदि धनों के कारण रूप यज्ञों को करते हुए तुम्हें हव्य देते हैं एवं शोभन बल से युक्त अन्न देकर देवविरोधी शत्रुओं को पराजित करते हैं. (१६)
EN English Translation
O agni the best leader! While approaching you, we give you the greetings by performing the form of yajnas due to the wealth of animals, etc., and defeat the enemies against the gods by giving food with the power of adornment. (16)
आ दे॒वाना॑मभवः के॒तुर॑ग्ने म॒न्द्रो विश्वा॑नि॒ काव्या॑नि वि॒द्वान् । प्रति॒ मर्ता॑ँ अवासयो॒ दमू॑ना॒ अनु॑ दे॒वान्र॑थि॒रो या॑सि॒ साध॑न् ॥ (१७)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे रथी अग्नि! तुम यज्ञ में देवों के प्रशंसनीय केतु, सभी स्तोत्रों के जानने वाले, सभी मनुष्यों को उनके घरों में बसाने वाले एवं देवों का कार्य सिद्ध करके उनके पीछे चलने वाले हो. (१७)
EN English Translation
O charioteer agni! You are going to follow the praiseworthy ketu of the gods in the yagna, the knower of all the hymns, the settler of all men in their houses, and the work of the gods. (17)
नि दु॑रो॒णे अ॒मृतो॒ मर्त्या॑नां॒ राजा॑ ससाद वि॒दथा॑नि॒ साध॑न् । घृ॒तप्र॑तीक उर्वि॒या व्य॑द्यौद॒ग्निर्विश्वा॑नि॒ काव्या॑नि वि॒द्वान् ॥ (१८)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
दीप्तिमान् एवं नित्य अग्नि य॒ज्ञों को पूर्ण करते हुए होताओं के घर में स्थित होते हैं. घृत के कारण बढ़ने वाले अग्नि सभी बातों को जानते एवं प्रकाशित होते हैं. (१८)
EN English Translation
The lights and routine agnis are located in the house of the hotas, completing the yajna yajnas. Fires that increase due to agonizing are known and illuminated by all things. (18)
आ नो॑ गहि स॒ख्येभिः॑ शि॒वेभि॑र्म॒हान्म॒हीभि॑रू॒तिभिः॑ सर॒ण्यन् । अ॒स्मे र॒यिं ब॑हु॒लं संत॑रुत्रं सु॒वाचं॑ भा॒गं य॒शसं॑ कृधी नः ॥ (१९)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे सब जगह जाने के इच्छुक महान् अग्नि! कल्याणकारी सख्य एवं रक्षा के विशाल साधन लेकर हमारे पास आओ एवं विस्तीर्ण, उपद्रवों से रहित, शोभन वचन युक्त, सुभग तथा यशस्वी बनाओ. (१९)
EN English Translation
O great agni willing to go everywhere! Come to us with a great means of welfare and protection and make us elaborate, free of disturbances, with a good word, good and successful. (19)
ए॒ता ते॑ अग्ने॒ जनि॑मा॒ सना॑नि॒ प्र पू॒र्व्याय॒ नूत॑नानि वोचम् । म॒हान्ति॒ वृष्णे॒ सव॑ना कृ॒तेमा जन्म॑ञ्जन्म॒न्निहि॑तो जा॒तवे॑दाः ॥ (२०)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पुरातन अग्नि! हम तुम्हें लक्ष्य करके सनातन एवं नवीन स्तुतियों को पढ़ते हैं. सब प्राणियों को जानने वाले एवं मनुष्यों के बीच स्थित कामवर्षक अग्नि को लक्ष्य करके हमने ये यज्ञ किए हैं. (२०)
EN English Translation
O ancient agni! We target you and read eternal and new praises. We have performed these yajnas by aiming at the workable agni that knows all beings and is among human beings. (20)
जन्म॑ञ्जन्म॒न्निहि॑तो जा॒तवे॑दा वि॒श्वामि॑त्रेभिरिध्यते॒ अज॑स्रः । तस्य॑ व॒यं सु॑म॒तौ य॒ज्ञिय॒स्यापि॑ भ॒द्रे सौ॑मन॒से स्या॑म ॥ (२१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
सभी मनुष्यों के बीच स्थित तथा सभी प्राणियों को जानने वाले अग्नि को विश्वामित्र के गोत्र वाले ऋषि सदैव प्रज्वलित रखते हैं. हम उन यज्ञ योग्य अग्नि की कृपा प्राप्त करके उत्तम कल्याण पाएंगे. (२१)
EN English Translation
The sages of the tribe of Vishwamitra always keep the agni that is located among all human beings and who know all beings, always ignite. We will get the best welfare by getting the grace of those sacrificial agnis. (21)
इ॒मं य॒ज्ञं स॑हसाव॒न्त्वं नो॑ देव॒त्रा धे॑हि सुक्रतो॒ ररा॑णः । प्र यं॑सि होतर्बृह॒तीरिषो॒ नोऽग्ने॒ महि॒ द्रवि॑ण॒मा य॑जस्व ॥ (२२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे शक्तिशाली एवं उत्तम कर्म वाले अग्नि! तुम सदैव रमण करते हुए हमारे यज्ञ को देवों के समीप पहुंचाओ. हे देवों के होता अग्नि! हमें अन्न एवं अधिक धन दो. (२२)
EN English Translation
O mighty and good-working agni! You always bring our yajna closer to the gods. O agni of the gods! Give us food and more money. (22)
इळा॑मग्ने पुरु॒दंसं॑ स॒निं गोः श॑श्वत्त॒मं हव॑मानाय साध । स्यान्नः॑ सू॒नुस्तन॑यो वि॒जावाग्ने॒ सा ते॑ सुम॒तिर्भू॑त्व॒स्मे ॥ (२३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे अग्नि! मुझ होता को मेरे कर्मो के अनुकूल गाय प्रदान करने वाली स्थायी भूमि दो. मेरा पुत्र संतान का विस्तार करने वाला हो. मेरे प्रति तुम्हारी उत्तम बुद्धि हो. (२३)
EN English Translation
O agni! Give me permanent land to provide a cow suited to my deeds. My son is going to expand the offspring. Have your best wisdom towards me. (23)
