रक्षो॒हणं॑ वा॒जिन॒मा जि॑घर्मि मि॒त्रं प्रथि॑ष्ठ॒मुप॑ यामि॒ शर्म॑ । शिशा॑नो अ॒ग्निः क्रतु॑भिः॒ समि॑द्धः॒ स नो॒ दिवा॒ स रि॒षः पा॑तु॒ नक्त॑म् ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
मैं राक्षसों का हनन करने वाले एवं बल के साधन अन्न से युक्त अग्नि के लिए हवन करता हूं. यज्ञ के द्वारा मैं मित्र बने हुए विस्तार को प्राप्त अग्नि की शरण जाता हूं. तीक्ष्ण ज्चालाओं वाले वे अग्नि देव आज्य आदि के द्वारा प्रज्वलित हों. इस प्रकार के अग्नि देव दिन में हिंसा करने वाले से हमारी रक्षा करें. (१)
EN English Translation
I perform havan for the agni that destroys the demons and contains food, the means of strength. Through yajna, I become a friend and take refuge in the agni to get expansion. Those agni gods with sharp movements should be ignited by ajya etc. May this kind of agni god protect us from those who commit violence during the day. (1)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ तप॑तं॒ रक्ष॑ उ॒ब्जतं॒ न्यर्पयतं वृषणा तमो॒वृधः॑ । परा॑ शृणीतम॒चितो॒ न्योषतं ह॒तं नु॒देथां॒ नि शि॑शीतम॒त्त्रिणः॑ ॥ (१)

हे इंद्र और सोम! राक्षसों को संतप्त करो तथा मार डालो. हे अभिलाषाएं पूर्ण करने वालो! अंधकार में बढ़ने वाले ज्ञानहीन राक्षसों को निम्न गति प्रदान करो तथा अत्यधिक जलाओ. मनुष्यों का भक्षण करने वाले राक्षसों को मारो तथा मारे हुए राक्षसों को हम से दूर ले जाओ. इस प्रकार उन की संख्या कम करो. (१)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Soma! Kill and kill the demons. Those who fulfill your desires! Give low speed and excessive burn to the knowledgeless demons growing in darkness. Kill the demons who eat humans and take the slain demons away from us. Thus reduce the number of them. (1)
अ॒यं प्र॑तिस॒रो म॒णिर्वी॒रो वी॒राय॑ बध्यते । वी॒र्यवान्त्सपत्न॒हा शूर॑वीरः परि॒पाणः॑ सुम॒ङ्गलः॑ ॥ (१)

तिलक वृक्ष से निर्मित यह मणि कृत्या राक्षसी को उसी के पास लौटा देती है, जो उसे किसी पर जादू टोने के रूप में भेजता है. यह वीरकर्म करने वाले शत्रुओं को भगाने में समर्थ है. यह मणि अतिशय शक्तिशालिनी, शत्रु घातक एवं यजमान की रक्षा करने वाले पुरोहित का मंगल करने वाली है. (१)
EN English Translation
This gem made from tilak tree returns the krita rakshasi to the one who sends it as a witchcraft on someone. It is capable of driving away the enemies who do heroic deeds. This gem is going to be very powerful, the enemy is deadly and the priest who protects the host. (1)
यौ ते॑ मा॒तोन्म॒मार्ज॑ जा॒तायाः॑ पति॒वेद॑नौ । दु॒र्णामा॒ तत्र॒ मा गृ॑धद॒लिंश॑ उ॒त व॒त्सपः॑ ॥ (१)

हे गर्भिणी! तेरे जन्म लेने के समय तेरी माता ने पति को प्राप्त होने वाले जो दुर्नाम और सुनाम नामक दो उन्मार्जन किए थे, उन में त्वचा के दोष से सुगंधित दुर्नाम तेरी इच्छा न करे अर्थात् तुझे प्राप्त न हो तथा अलीश एवं वत्सप नामक रोग भी तुझे न हों. (१)
EN English Translation
This pregnant woman! At the time of your birth, your mother should not want you to be scented with skin defects in the two vows called Durnam and Sunam, which were received by your husband, that is, you should not get it and you should not have diseases called Alish and Vatsap. (1)
या ब॒भ्रवो॒ याश्च॑ शु॒क्रा रोहि॑णीरु॒त पृश्न॑यः । असि॑क्नीः कृ॒ष्णा ओष॑धीः॒ सर्वा॑ अ॒च्छाव॑दामसि ॥ (१)

जो जड़ीबूटियां विभिन्न आकारों तथा शुक्ल, लाल आदि रंगों की हैं, उन सभी के सामने उपस्थित हो कर मैं रोग निवारण की प्रार्थना करता हूं. (१)

I pray for the prevention of disease by appearing in front of all the herbs which are of different sizes and colors like Shukla, Red etc. (1)
इन्द्रो॑ मन्थतु॒ मन्थि॑ता श॒क्रः शूरः॑ पुरंद॒रः । यथा॒ हना॑म॒ सेना॑ अ॒मित्रा॑णां सहस्र॒शः ॥ (१)

शत्रुओं का दलन करने वाले, शक्तिशाली, वीर एवं विरोधियों के नगरों को उजाड़ने वाले इंद्र इस यज्ञ में अरणि मंथन कर के अगिने प्रज्वलित करें, जिस के प्रभाव से हम अपने शत्रुओं की हजारों सैनिकों वाली सेनाओं का विनाश कर सकें. (१)
EN English Translation
Indra, who crushes enemies, powerful, brave and destroys the cities of opponents, should ignite the agni by churning the forest in this yajna, with the effect of which we can destroy the armies of thousands of soldiers of our enemies. (1)
कुत॒स्तौ जा॒तौ क॑त॒मः सो अर्धः॒ कस्मा॑ल्लो॒कात्क॑त॒मस्याः॑ पृथि॒व्याः । व॒त्सौ वि॒राजः॑ सलि॒लादुदै॑तां॒ तौ त्वा॑ पृच्छामि कत॒रेण॑ दु॒ग्धा ॥ (१)

विराट् के दोनों वत्स कहां से उत्पन्न हुए? उन में से एक किसी लोक से उत्पन्न हुआ. उन में से पृथ्वी से कौन सा वत्स उत्पन्न हुआ? विराट् के दोनों वत्स जल से निकले. मैं तुम से पूछता हूं कि तुम ने इन्हें किस प्रकार समझा है. (१)
EN English Translation
Where did virat's two vatsa originate? One of them originated from some folk. Which of them originated from the earth? Both of Virat's vats came out of the water. I ask you how you have understood them. (1)
तद्यस्मा॑ ए॒वं वि॒दुषे॒ऽलाबु॑नाभिषि॒ञ्चेत्प्र॒त्याह॑न्यात् ॥ (१)

जो इस को जानने वाले को अलाबु के द्वारा सींचता है, वह उस का हनन कर देता है. (१)

He who waters the one who knows it through Alabu violates him. (1)
अन्त॑काय मृ॒त्यवे॒ नमः॑ प्रा॒णा अ॑पा॒ना इ॒ह ते॑ रमन्ताम् । इ॒हायम॑स्तु॒ पुरु॑षः स॒हासु॑ना॒ सूर्य॑स्य भा॒गे अ॒मृत॑स्य लो॒के ॥ (१)

सभी प्राणियों का विनाश करने वाले मृत्यु को नमस्कार है. हे ब्रह्मचारी! प्राण और अपान वायु तेरे शरीर में रमण करें. यह पुरुष प्राणों से युक्त हो. यह सूर्य प्रदेश में, भूलोक में एवं अमृतलोक में वर्तमान रहे. (१)

Salutations to death, which destroys all beings. O brahmachari! May prana and apana vayu delight in your body. This man is full of life. This sun should be present in the region, in the earth and in the amritlok. (1)
आ र॑भस्वे॒माम॒मृत॑स्य॒ श्नुष्टि॒मच्छि॑द्यमाना ज॒रद॑ष्टिरस्तु ते । असुं॑ त॒ आयुः॒ पुन॒रा भ॑रामि॒ रज॒स्तमो॒ मोप॑ गा॒ मा प्र मे॑ष्ठाः ॥ (१)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे आयु की कामना करने वाले पुरुष! तुम हमारे द्वारा किए जाते हुए अमरण संबंधी अनुष्ठान को अनुभव करो. तुम्हारा शरीर शत्रुओं के द्वारा छिन्नभिन्न न होने वाला तथा वृद्धावस्था को प्राप्त करने वाला हो. इस के लिए मृत्यु से छीने गए तेरे प्राणों को मैं पुनः आयु से भरता हूं. तू सत्व गुण के प्रतिबंधक रजोगुण और तमोगुण को प्राप्त न हो. तू हिंसा को भी प्राप्त न हो. (१)
EN English Translation
O men wishing for age! You experience the immortal rituals we perform. Your body is not broken by enemies and attains old age. For this, I fill your life taken away from death with life again. You should not attain the restrictive rajoguna and tamoguna of sattva guna. You don't even get violence. (1)
जीव॑तां॒ ज्योति॑र॒भ्येह्य॒र्वाङा त्वा॑ हरामि श॒तशा॑रदाय । अ॑वमु॒ञ्चन्मृ॑त्युपा॒शानश॑स्तिं॒ द्राघी॑य॒ आयुः॑ प्रत॒रं ते॑ दधामि ॥ (२)

हे पुरुष! तू मनुष्यों की ज्ञान दीप्ति प्राप्त कर के हमारे सामने आ. हम तुझे सौ संवत तक जीने के लिए मृत्यु से छीन लाए हैं. मृत्यु के ज्वर, सिरदर्द आदि पाशों से हम ने तुझे छुड़ाया है. हम तुझे निंदा से मुक्त करते हुए सौ वर्ष की दीर्घ आयु में अत्यधिक रूप से स्थापित करते हैं. (२)
EN English Translation
O man! You receive the light of the knowledge of men and come before us. We have taken you away from death to live for a hundred samvats. We have rescued you from the fever, headache, etc. of death. We highly establish you at a long age of a hundred years, freeing you from condemnation. (2)
अयो॑दंष्ट्रो अ॒र्चिषा॑ यातु॒धाना॒नुप॑ स्पृश जातवेदः॒ समि॑द्धः । आ जि॒ह्वया॒ मूर॑देवान्रभस्व क्र॒व्यादो॑ वृ॒ष्ट्वापि॑ धत्स्वा॒सन् ॥ (२)

हे जन्म लेने वालों के ज्ञाता अग्नि देव! हमारे द्वारा किए हुए घृत आदि से भलीभांति प्रज्वलित हो कर तुम लोहे के दांतों के समान अपनी ज्वालाओं के द्वारा राक्षसों को जला दो. जादूटोने के द्वारा जो दूसरों की हत्या का खेल खेलते हैं, उन्हें तुम अपनी जीभ से स्पर्श करो तथा मांस भक्षक राक्षस पिशाच आदि का विनाश कर के अपना मुख बंद कर लो. (२)
EN English Translation
O God of agni, the knower of those who are born! By igniting well with the ghee etc. done by us, burn the demons with your flames like iron teeth. Those who play the game of killing others through witchcraft, touch them with your tongue and close your mouth by destroying the meat-eating monster vampire etc. (2)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा॒ सम॒घशं॑सम॒भ्यघं तपु॑र्ययस्तु च॒रुर॑ग्नि॒माँ इ॑व । ब्र॑ह्म॒द्विषे॑ क्र॒व्यादे॑ घो॒रच॑क्षसे॒ द्वेषो॑ धत्तमनवा॒यं कि॑मीदिने ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र और सोम! अनर्थ बोलने वाले एवं पापी राक्षस को पराजित करो. वह राक्षस संताप को प्राप्त हो तथा अग्नि में डाले गए अन्न के समान जल जाए. तुम दोनों ब्राह्मणों से द्वेष करने वाले मांसाहारी एवं अब किसे, अब किसे खाऊं कहते हुए राक्षस के पीछे द्वेष और विरोध धारण करो. (२)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Soma! Defeat the evil-speaking and sinful monster. That demon should get angry and burn like food poured in the agni. You two brahmins who hate non-vegetarians and now whom to eat, now whom to eat, and wear hatred and opposition behind the demon. (2)
अ॒यं म॒णिः स॑पत्न॒हा सु॒वीरः॒ सह॑स्वान्वा॒जी सह॑मान उ॒ग्रः । प्र॒त्यक्कृ॒त्या दू॒षय॑न्नेति वी॒रः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
तिलक वृक्ष से निर्मित मणि शत्रु घातक, संतान देने वाली, शक्तिशालिनी, वेगवती, शत्रुओं को पराजित करने वाली, उग्र तथा दूसरे के द्वारा भेजी गई कृत्या राक्षसी को उसी के विरोध में भेजने वाली है. शत्रुओं को अनेक प्रकार से दूषित करने वाली यह मणि हमारे सामने आती है. (२)

The gem made from tilak tree is the enemy deadly, child-giving, powerful, vegvati, defeating enemies, furious and the act sent by others is going to send the demon against him. This gem that contaminates enemies in many ways comes in front of us. (2)
प॑लालानुपला॒लौ शर्कुं॒ कोकं॑ मलिम्लु॒चं प॒लीज॑कम् । आ॒श्रेषं॑ व॒व्रिवा॑सस॒मृक्ष॑ग्रीवं प्रमी॒लिन॑म् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
गर्भिणी को पीड़ा पहुंचाने वाले जो पलाल, अनुपलाल, शर्कु, कोक, मलिम्लुच, पलीजक, आश्रेष, वब्रिवास, ऋक्षग्रीव एवं प्रमीली नामक राक्षस हैं, मैं उन सब का विनाश करता हूं. (२)

I destroy all those demons named Palal, Anuplal, Sharku, Kok, Malimluch, Palijak, Ashresh, Vabrivas, Rikshgreva and Pramili who hurt the pregnant woman. (2)
त्राय॑न्तामि॒मं पुरु॑षं॒ यक्ष्मा॑द्दे॒वेषि॑ता॒दधि॑ । यासां॒ द्यौष्पि॒ता पृ॑थि॒वी मा॒ता स॑मु॒द्रो मूलं॑ वी॒रुधां॑ ब॒भूव॑ ॥ (२)

पृथ्वी जिन की माता, आकाश जिन का पिता और सागर जिन का मूल है, वे जड़ीबूटियां दुर्भाग्य के कारण उत्पन्न इस राजयक्ष्मा रोग से इस पुरुष की रक्षा करें. (२)

Earth whose mother, sky whose father and ocean is the root, those herbs protect this man from this rajakshama disease caused by misfortune. (2)
पू॑तिर॒ज्जुरु॑प॒ध्मानी॒ पूतिं॒ सेनां॑ कृणोत्व॒मूम् । धू॒मम॒ग्निं प॑रा॒दृश्या॒ऽमित्रा॑ हृ॒त्स्वा द॑धतां भ॒यम् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
अग्नि में गिरने वाली पुरानी रस्सी शत्रु की सेना को शक्तिहीन करे. इस यज्ञ अग्नि का धुआं देख कर ही शत्रु भयभीत हों और अपना धन छोड़ कर भाग जाएं. (२)
EN English Translation
The old rope falling in the agni should weaken the enemy's army. Seeing the smoke of this sacrificial agni, the enemies should be afraid and leave their wealth and run away. (2)
यो अक्र॑न्दयत्सलि॒लं म॑हि॒त्वा योनिं॑ कृ॒त्वा त्रि॒भुजं॒ शया॑नः । व॒त्सः का॑म॒दुघो॑ वि॒राजः॒ स गुहा॑ चक्रे त॒न्वः परा॒चैः ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
जिस ने जल को महत्त्व देते हुए, क्रंदन किया और जल को त्रिभुज बना कर सोता रहा. विराट् का यह वत्स अभिलाषा पूर्ण करने वाला है. उस ने दूसरों के शरीर को अपनी गुफा बनाया है. (२)
EN English Translation
Who gave importance to water, cried and slept by making water a triangle. This vatsa desire of Virat is going to fulfill. He has made the bodies of others his cave. (2)
न च॑ प्रत्याह॒न्यान्मन॑सा॒ त्वा प्र॒त्याह॒न्मीति॑ प्र॒त्याह॑न्यात् ॥ (२)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
वैसे तो इस का हनन नहीं करता, पर जब मन से सोचता है कि उस का हनन करूं तो हनन कर देता है. (२)
EN English Translation
By the way, it does not violate it, but when he thinks with his mind that I should violate it, then he violates it. (2)
उदे॑नं॒ भगो॑ अग्रभी॒दुदे॑नं॒ सोमो॑ अंशु॒मान् । उदे॑नं म॒रुतो॑ दे॒वा उदि॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी स्व॒स्तये॑ ॥ (२)

भग नामक अदिति पुत्र ने इस मूर्च्छित पुरुष का उद्धार किया है. अमृतमयी किरणों से सोम ने इस का उद्धार किया है. मरुत् देवों ने एवं अग्ने ने क्षेम के लिए इस का उद्धार किया है. (२)
EN English Translation
Aditi's son named Bhaga has saved this foolish man. Soma has saved it with nectar rays. The desert gods and agni have saved it for the sake of suffering. (2)
वाता॑त्ते प्रा॒णम॑विदं॒ सूर्या॒च्चक्षु॑र॒हं तव॑ । यत्ते॒ मन॒स्त्वयि॒ तद्धा॑रयामि॒ सं वि॒त्स्वाङ्गै॒र्वद॑ जि॒ह्वयाल॑पन् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे प्राणरहित पुरुष! मैं ने तुम्हारे प्राणों को वायु से प्राप्त किया है. मैं ने तुम्हारे चक्षु को सूर्य से प्राप्त किया है तथा मैं तुम्हारे मन को तुम्हीं में धारण करता हूं. इस प्रकार तुम सभी अंगों से युक्त हो कर एवं जीभ से बोलते हुए व्यक्त उच्चारण करो. (३)

O man without life! I have received your souls from the air. I have received your eye from the sun and I hold your mind in you. In this way, you should speak with all the organs and speak with the tongue. (3)
उ॒भोभ॑यावि॒न्नुप॑ धेहि॒ दंष्ट्रौ॑ हिं॒स्रः शिशा॒नोऽव॑रं॒ परं॑ च । उ॒तान्तरि॑क्षे॒ परि॑ याह्यग्ने॒ जम्भैः॒ सं धे॑ह्य॒भि या॑तु॒धाना॑न् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
यह रक्षा करने योग्य है और यह मारने योग्य है-इन दो प्रकार के ज्ञान वाले हे अग्नि देव! तुम हिंसक एवं तीखी ज्वालाओं वाले हो. तुम हमारे शत्रु एवं हमारे द्वारा द्वेष किए गए पुरुष को अपनी दोनों दाढ़ों के बीच में रख लो. इस के पश्चात तुम आकाश में विचरण करो. हे अग्नि देव! मुझे बाधा पहुंचाने के निमित्त घूमते हुए राक्षसों को दांतों से चबा डालो. (३)
EN English Translation
It is protectable and it is worth killing - O Agni Dev with these two kinds of knowledge! You are violent and with sharp flames. You put our enemy and the man we have hated between your two molars. After this, you wander in the sky. O God of Agni! Chew the demons with your teeth while roaming around to obstruct me. (3)
इन्द्रा॑सोमा दु॒ष्कृतो॑ व॒व्रे अ॒न्तर॑नारम्भ॒णे तम॑सि॒ प्र वि॑ध्यतम् । यतो॒ नैषां॒ पुन॒रेक॑श्च॒नोदय॒त्तद्वा॑मस्तु॒ सह॑से मन्यु॒मच्छवः॑ ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे इंद्र और सोम! तुम दुष्कर्म करने वाले राक्षसों को ढकने वाले तथा बिना सहारे वाले अंधकार में धकेलो, जिस से अंधकार में पड़े हुए राक्षसों में से एक भी बाहर न आ सके. तुम दोनों का यह बल राक्षसों को हराने के लिए क्रोध युक्त हो. (३)
EN English Translation
O Indra and Soma! You push the evil demons into darkness covering and without support, so that not a single one of the demons lying in darkness can come out. This force of both of you to defeat the demons is angry. (3)
अ॒नेनेन्द्रो॑ म॒णिना॑ वृ॒त्रम॑हन्न॒नेनासु॑रा॒न्परा॑भावयन्मनी॒षी । अ॒नेना॑जय॒द्द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी उ॒भे इ॒मे अ॒नेना॑जयत्प्र॒दिश॒श्चत॑स्रः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
किसी भी उपाय से वृत्रासुर को मारने में असफल होने पर इंद्र ने इसी मणि को बांधने के प्रभाव से विजय के उपाय जाने एवं राक्षसों को पराजित एवं नष्ट किया था. इंद्र ने इसी मणि के प्रभाव से धरती और आकाश पर विजय प्राप्त की है. इसी मणि के प्रभाव से इंद्र ने पूर्व, पश्चिम, उत्तर एवं दक्षिण-चारों दिशाओं को जीता है. (३)
EN English Translation
After failing to kill Vritrasura by any means, Indra, with the effect of tying this gem, went for victory and defeated and destroyed the demons. Indra has conquered the earth and the sky with the influence of this gem. With the influence of this gem, Indra has won all four directions east, west, north and south. (3)
मा सं वृ॑तो॒ मोप॑ सृप ऊ॒रू माव॑ सृपोऽन्त॒रा । कृ॒णोम्य॑स्यै भेष॒जं ब॒जं दु॑र्णाम॒चात॑नम् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे दुर्नाम रोग से संबंधित राक्षस! इस गर्भिणी की जंघाओं के मध्य में संकोच उत्पन्न मत कर तथा उन के भीतर प्रवेश भी मत कर. तू गर्भिणी की जंघाओं के नीचे की ओर भी मत खिसक. इस गर्भिणी से संबंधित सफेद सरसों के रूप में मैं जो ओषधि तैयार करता हूं, वह दुर्नाम रोग का विनाश करने वाली है. (३)

O demon related to Durnam disease! Do not hesitate between the thighs of this pregnant woman and do not even enter them. Do not even slip downwards of the thighs of the pregnant woman. The medicine I prepare in the form of white mustard related to this womb is going to destroy the disease. (3)
आपो॒ अग्रं॑ दि॒व्या ओष॑धयः । तास्ते॒ यक्ष्म॑मेन॒स्यमङ्गा॑दङ्गादनीनशन् ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे रोगी पुरुष! जो पवित्र जल और दिव्य जड़ीबूटियां हैं, वे तेरे शरीर के प्रत्येक अंग से यक्ष्मा रोग का विनाश कर दें. (३)

O patient man! May the holy water and divine herbs destroy tuberculosis from every part of your body. (3)
अ॒मून॑श्वत्थ॒ निः शृ॑णीहि॒ खादा॒मून्ख॑दिराजि॒रम् । ता॒जद्भङ्ग॑ इव भज्यन्तां॒ हन्त्वे॑ना॒न्वध॑को व॒धैः ॥ (३)
हि हिन्दी अनुवाद
हे पीपल के वृक्ष! तुम इन शत्रुओं को समाप्त करो. हे खैर के वृक्ष तुम इन सभी गमनशील शत्रुओं को खा डालो. शत्रु अरंडी के वृक्ष के समान टूट जाएं. तुम अपने काष्ठ के प्रहार से इन का वध करो. (३)

O peepal tree! You eliminate these enemies. O tree of well, you eat all these moving enemies. The enemy should break like a castor tree. You kill them with the blow of your wood. (3)

Three of these are great and important and the fourth is speech. The scholar Brahma came to know this speech through penance. Only a lonely person can know one of them. (3)

हे आयु की कामना करने वाले पुरुष! तेरी प्राण वायु एवं चक्षु आदि इंद्रियां तेरे शरीर में निवास करें. तेरी आयु एवं मन भी तेरे इसी शरीर में रहें. हम निर्ति नामक पाप देवता के बंधनों से अपने मंत्रों द्वारा तेरा उद्धार करते हैं. (३)

O men wishing for age! May your life, air and eyes reside in your body. May your life and mind also remain in your body. We save you through our mantras from the bonds of the sin god named Nirti. (3)
