Description
The Isha Upanishad is the shortest yet one of the most profound Upanishads, containing only 18 verses. It forms the final chapter (Chapter 40) of the Shukla Yajurveda. Despite its brevity, it encapsulates the essence of Vedantic philosophy.
The very first verse — "Ishavasyam idam sarvam" (All this is pervaded by the Lord) — sets the tone for a revolutionary understanding of God, the world, and the self. Mahatma Gandhi considered this Upanishad sufficient for understanding the entire Hindu philosophy.
This edition includes the Sanskrit text, word-by-word meaning, and commentary by Adi Shankaracharya with Hindi translation.
